Went there today to grab a quick lunch. I ordered the chicken cutlet curry with omelet over rice. Curry was level 2 spice and I also added vegetables. I think this place is way better than Coco. The server Jeff is also super nice. The store is well decorated and dining ambiance is very chill and relaxing. However, seating is limited. Only 2 advice I would give: - there was a chunk of rice that was too wet and mushy. Probably want to check the rice cooking process and water level to ensure rice consistency. - the high chair seating is very hard and not quite comfortable. I recommend adding washable soft pads to those high chairs to improve the seat down experience. Other than the above two, I would chose to eat here over Coco.

Maji Curry is a championed curry house specializing in Japanese style curry. The curry is thick and flavorful with a multitude of spices leading to tremendous umami. On this visit, I opted for the tonkatsu curry. The tonkatsu was fried well and pork remained juicy and of course the curry was out of this world. Maji also offers multiple portion sizes for a variety of appetites so consider getting the large or extra large if you're starving. If you're in Irvine and looking for great Japanese curry, visit Maji Curry!

I love this curry place! They have really good sauce, I think this is definitely one of the best curry sauces that I have tried around the area. This is great that it has everything you can eat, and even the ginger or pickled vegetables on the side that they provide for you really makes the experience better. whenever I go here, I typically get the spiciest option you can get, which too spicy. I tend to have a pretty spice tolerance, but even the spiciest one that they have isn't as spicy as other curry places that I have tried. The ambience of the restaurant is nice, they typically are relatively busy in this location. I think that in general, even if it is busy, once you sit down, the service is very fast and you get your food relatively quickly. Definitely will be coming back here!

I have been dying to try this curry spot when I heard all the hype about it. I was surprised there wasn't a wait but I am assuming it is because I came on a weekday. I love you can customize your curry order and they have a lot of other options as well. The server wasn't as attentive or welcoming but she was the only one working. They did mess up my order when I asked for cheese and they charged me for the cheese despite not getting it, luckily I caught it. I was disappointed because I love eating cheese with curry but it was still delicious!!

Apparently this joint is known for being busy & having to wait. We went on a Saturday evening (!!!) & just our luck we didn't have to be put on any wait list, we were able to walk right in & be seated right away. The seating inside is so limited so I was worried about the wait. It was our lucky day ! I ordered the chicken cutlet regular size level 2 spice, hubby got the same but large & with an omelette. We also got an order of karaage for an appetizer. The food came out fairly fast. The karaage was so good ! I have had my fair share of karaage & this had its own unique taste. It was juicy & the dip (I think it was kewpie) paired so well with the chicken. We gobbled up all the bites. At first glance the regular size chicken cutlet seems small & mediocre. I actually couldn't finish my plate as I got full & hubby had to finish for me. The medium grain rice was sticky but cooked to perfection. The breading on the chicken had a crunch & the chicken was tender & juicy !!! I could of ate a spicier curry but really was being cheap & didn't want to pay extra to up the heat level. I'd say if you're into spicy food level 2 is still very mild. Even though it was mild, i really enjoyed it !!! Very small complaints, why the shortage on napkins ?? I have a 10 month old & things get messy at the table. We only had one napkin & my hubby asked for more. We were given only 3 more. Plus curry is messy so don't be stingy on napkins ! Also wassup with the canned drinks ?? Fountain drinks always taste better than canned. Anyways we really enjoyed our meal & we would be back !

My friends and I arrived around noon on a Sunday. It was busy but was still early enough to where we only had to wait around 15 mins to be seated, which wasn't bad. Because of the limited seating, it is pretty cramped inside. I enjoyed the eggplant curry I got. Eggplant was cooked well. Good portion of rice. Curry was not as heavy as other curry places and wasn't as rich in flavor. Was more just savory. I tried some of the cheese sauce from one of my friends and it adds a nice salty bite!

Maji has recently been added to our lunch rotation. The curry here has been pretty consistent, and isn't run of the mill. You can actually taste a harmony of sweetness, curry, savoriness and spice. You have the option to gonup to level 2 for free which is decently spicy. Anything over is an up charge. The cheese adds a creamy mellowness to the curry, but my absolute favorite has been the omelet. I wish it was a tad more loose, but it's still very good. I've had mostly their pork cutlets but recently a co worker has the chicken which he said was very good. Service has been really fast, but the food always comes out piping hot and fresh. The place is tiny but service is fast and it's relatively quick for weekday lunch. If you're looking for a spot for decent curry, give Maji a try!
